1960 Chevrolet Corvette Original Classic

1960 Chevrolet Corvette Original Classic

Lot # 1

Making its debut in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette was branded as being “America’s sports car”. 1960 became a historical moment when a wealthy sportsman racer by the name of Briggs Cunningham entered three corvettes into the famed 24 hr Le Mans , eventually proving itself worthy and representing the US in a crowd of non believers. The Corvette quickly became Chevrolet’s protégé and as they say, the rest is history. All of that history is perfectly preserved in this all original 1960 Corvette. First glance at the odometer would have most people scratching their heads, but in fact the car has 2,977 ORIGINAL MILES! Boasting the 283ci v8 with dual quads and wrapped in a tuxedo black and grey paint scheme, this one of a kind simply screams elegance at a standstill. Having obtained its Top Flight certification in April of 1998, everything from the headlights to the taillights is still in show quality condition. Have a look at the undercarriage of this C1 to see the actual inspection or “chalk” marks still on the frame from its days on the assembly line in St. Louis. The trunk will show you another result of a pristine life, revealing the spare tire jack with a film of original lithium grease. If this car looks familiar, it may be because you’ve taken a tour at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green Kentucky, where it sat for spectators and enthusiasts to enjoy from 2003-2004.Seeing this car in person is like viewing something that’s been kept in a time capsule for the past 58 years. This fully documented beauty has been pampered by its second owner for the past 19 years, and is now waiting for its new home.
